Actually, I am no expert. I just thought I gathered some of the most helpful links or information I know about making a website/blog in one place, to share with you, and for my own organisational purposes.
Firstly, before we start building the website, you need to decide if you want to pay or not for the hosting of the website. I would suggest you start with the free version, there are a whole range of free options out there that actually give a decent website design. But in any case I gave you both the free and Not free version below. Also not that you can always change the free version into the paid version to get more benefits in the future.
Free Version
There are SOOO MANY beautiful free website builders out there its crazy. I have used them all (this year has been me making many many small websites for a whole range of purposes). Below are some of my personal go toes:
Weebly is more geared for the business sector than blog. Their design is really hipster like, clean cut with lots of white. Me like it. They have a youtube channel to learn more.
They have a whole range of supportive video tutorial on Youtube. Find them on their channel.
Most people would say that wordpress is the best out of these options, but I really don’t feel it. Building in wordpress (the free version), is hard and I feel quite limiting, plus too many options complicate things for me, so in short I don’t like wordpress so much. The other three are all very easy to use. It probably only takes several hours to built a beautiful website/blog with either weebly, jimmy or wix. Huge advantage for those who just wanna make something fast.
Not Free Version
I find the video below by Tyler Moore incredibly helpful. I basically just followed him by the book to build this website, and note that I had no idea what to do when I started, so it was really helpful.
The video shows his most favourite template, the Tesseract theme, which he built for businesses, but these days he has made many other different templates, so I think you can choose between all the beautiful designs he has to offer on his website.
